Sr. Girls lose Watson to ACL tear

This Corning Senior Girls team has faced more adversity than any of us could ever fathom over the past 12 months. The seemingly relentless hurdles weren’t over as the team got word their most valuable player to this point of the season would not step foot on the hardwood the rest of the year. Kelsey Watson has been an offensive juggernaut this season averaging over 15 points a game, but it isn’t just her scoring this team is going to miss. Watson has been a solid defender snatching several steals and has helped out on the glass averaging over six rebounds a game. Watson ran the point for Corning and was the aggressive floor general Coach Jerry Songer loves to have on the court. Watson can hit from outside and get to the bucket more times than not at will. That versatility will be greatly missed down the stretch with this back loaded conference schedule Corning is about to endure. ”Losing Kelsey is a big loss to our team. Kelsey is a very good athlete and an even better person.
