Corning squared off against Maynard in the opening round of the Williams Baptist College Tournament Monday, November 26. Great defense, wonderful free throw shooting and a big night from Lucas Barajas sealed the deal and moved Corning past the first round 52 to 44. Corning withstood a sluggish first half going into the locker room down 26 to 21, but came out swinging haymakers in the second half. Corning scored 31 in the final two quarters and tightened up the defensive side of the ball, holding Maynard to just six third quarter points. Corning shot 79 percent from the free throw line and got their often enough to put the game away late. Barajas scored a game high 18 points on four of four shooting from the free throw line. Colby Briney added 12 points, knocking down three threepointers. Rylee Grubb added eight points in the Bobcat win.
