Corning loses 3A-3 shootout to Mustangs

The Bobcats fell to Hoxie Friday night at home, losing to the Mustangs 42-28 in a shootout. The games was locked up at 6-6 after the first quarter of play but the Mustangs held the Bobcats scoreless in the second quarter while scoring on a touchdown and PAT to take a 14-6 lead. Hoxie outscored Corning 14-7 in the third frame and the Bobcats came back to post 15 points in the final quarter of play while the visitors scored 14. Coach Jeremy Stout of Corning said the players were a little sloppy after extra-curricular school-related activities during the week of practice.
