Arkansas Wildlife Fishing Report

Lake Charles

(updated 7-24-2019)

Shelly Jeffrey at Lake Charles State Park (870-878-6595) says bream and catfish are still biting well from the shore. Bass and catfish have moved to deeper water. The best days for fishing, she says, should be July 29-Aug. 4. Clarity is murky and the water on Sunday morning was 70 degrees. Use worms and crickets for a good bream bite, while jigs and worms are both working for crappie. If you’re targeting bass, throw crankbaits, plastic worms or live worms. Anglers report fair results. Catfishing will be fair using blood bait or stink bait.
