The value of communication to communities

I work for the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, and my job is to get Economic Development going for counties across northern Arkansas. Two thirds of Arkansas counties are losing population, and about 90 percent are growing less than the National Average. This means they are slowing gaining population, but still falling behind the nation in economic growth. This is a serious problem for most of Arkansas.

In working with each of my counties, I, first, access the current status of that county to see what we have to work with. I look to see how clean and organized the county is. I look at the schools, churches, roads, businesses, and airport. I look for community pride! If you have a tight knit, well organized community, then they can achieve a tremendous amount.
