Two steps forward . . . one step back
The Lowe Down
Life and progress is rarely a straight forward trajectory. There are ups and downs, left and rights. It might seem that our city went backwards with the closing of Pizza Hut, but it’s just a step backward. I liken it to our town just doing the Cha Cha: two steps forward and one step back. The town’s energy will continue to build momentum in the right direction. There are too many of us committed to advancing Corning into the future. The collective ideas from the Growing Corning Together team are accelerative and ignite our energy and commitment. It’s to be expected that there will be steps backward along our way. Like the Cha Cha, our progress goes backwards…and then forwards too.
This is our story to tell. We can’t allow negative rhetoric to define or worse yet, influence us. There will be people who will say that Corning is done. I don’t believe that. Neither does Mark Peterson. Mark is a Professor of Economic and Community Development at the University of Arkansas and the creator of Breakthrough Solutions, an award-winning community development program. Dr. Peterson has assisted several towns revitalize their futures and is helping the Growing Corning Together group as well.
