The Rearview Mirror

The Power of the Preposition

As an English teacher, I spent years teaching the parts of speech and how a simple preposition can change the entire meaning of a sentence. “The bird flew over the house. The bird flew by the house. The bird flew under the house. The bird flew into the house.” You get my point.

The first amendment guarantees freedom OF religion. We have the right to assemble and practice our faith without fear of molestation. It’s listed right there by freedom of speech, which some people go to great lengths to protect. Say whatever you want to say, regardless of the harm it may cause, and you are protected. Advocate killing police officers or the president.
