Now that we’ve got the holidays - and the football bowl games - behind us, there is just one thing to do. . get back on schedule and start trying to figure out who we owe and how much!

The government really did their part to put a lid on Christmas spending - by sending out the federal income tax forms right in the middle of the shopping confusion. If I am as lucky this year as in the past couple years, I’ll get just enough federal and state refund to combine the two and trot down to the courthouse to pay my county taxes. I’ll do good to come out with enough to buy a postage stamp at new price of 22 cents.

January is National Hobby Month - that’s good, in view of the fact that I have signed up for ceramic classes. Now I’m not expecting to turn out anything spectacular and I know a person can use only so many ceramic cups, etc., but why not? It should be a fun way to pass a little time and I have vowed to do something - anything - besides park myself somewhere and watch television evening after evening.
