RAMBLING VINES

I am a pack-rat and will take anything that anyone will give me - except animals. In recent days I have been favored with the following: Len Dockins, Datto, brought me an ear of corn and a cob from his new type corn called “pencil cob corn”. . . and that’s what the cob looks like-a pencil. He remembered that my neighbor and I used to make corncob dolls and thought we might be interested in making a “Twiggy” size.

While I was talking on the telephone, Landis Smith of Knobel came in and out of the office, leaving me some pears. Bryan McCallen was an early morning caller, giving me a couple ripe kumquats from his yard. He said that he eats three or four a day and leaves the rest of them for squirrels and other animals.

Silas Thrasher came in with a snake in a brown paper bag and I started screeching like an Apache. . . I’m not sure, but I think I told him to go!
