RAMBLING VINES

For your reading enjoyment, Rambling Vines has returned as we re-print articles by Marylea Vines as she recalls events and names of Corning folks from many years ago. We are currently in the year 1984.

Another sign of changing with the times was recently when people were looking through pieces of film and taking all sorts of safety measures to look at the eclipse. This is not supposed to happen again during this century. I well remember once when this happened years ago, and we didn’t even own a pair of sunglasses. Not to be outdone, we scouted around for pieces of broken glass, then held a burning candle underneath it until one side was covered with smoke. It worked! Another case of Necessity being the Mother of Invention.

You tell me what is going on, because it sure has me buffaloed. Here in town it is next to impossible to do anything outside except to fight mosquitos. They are outside, inside and all around.
