It’s here! And it’s for real this time. I’m referring to our new ambulance. It got here shortly after four o’clock Monday afternoon and I managed to miss the whole thing. (I have been told that with my kind of luck, I will probably be waiting at the airport when my ship comes in). I was on hand for the “false alarm” ambulance that we had delivered here about three weeks ago, and got to take a ride, but I was temporarily out of pocket Monday afternoon. However, if it was any more exciting Monday than before, it must have been something else. Corning Police Officers John Dennis and Steve Fey and I had fun trying out all the gadgets . . . I was so excited that I developed the same kind of goose bumps that I always get during the 4th of July Parade. It was great watching the heads of people turn as the ambulance traveled down the street . . . of course; we occasionally sounded the siren and had the revolving lights doing their thing. That was all before we learned that the ambulance did not meet specifications and had to be returned. This one is for real . . . it’s ours for keeps.
