This week, October 3-9, is National Fire Prevention Week, a good time to take a long, hard look at some of the good things our Volunteer Fire Fighters have been doing over the years and a good time for each of us to take the little extra time necessary to pat a fire fighter on the back—shake his hand— call him up and “brag” on him a bit—anything to let him know that we do appreciate him and all the time he has to spend away from this home and family, just trying to make this a safer place for all of us. I have observed the Corning Fire Department in action for some 50 years, long before most of our Volunteers were even born.
