When a person accidentally tears their paycheck in half en route to the bank, that should be taken as some sort of warning to keep everything low key for the remainder of the day. Not me, I stumbled around all day last Saturday, getting into first one big mess then another…Now I know for sure, hindsight is always better than foresight! See, I had this new cake recipe that I was wanting to try out soon as it turned a little cool-Saturday was the day, I got out of bed early, got my housework all completed and set out to see about that Black Walnut Three-Layer Cake.

First, I discovered that we had only two nine-inch cake pans and I went by Beverly’s to borrow a third pan… that took about an hour by the time we finished taking. Very carefully I added the ingredients, doing everything just as the recipe said, much as I possibly could.
