The Lowe Down

Looking ahead and getting to work . . .

As we enter 2019, the City of Corning is entering an exciting time ripe with opportunities. We’re aware of most of our issues and we have people ready to hit the ground to do what they can to move Corning forward. Though we have much work to do, it will be exhilarating to see where our efforts take us. It will take lots of hard work, but it should be fruitful and satisfying work.

It seems that before long we need to focus on what our identity will be. What do we want Corning to be known for or what will be the draw to come here?  What will encourage visitors to actually patronize businesses and support the local economy? What separates Corning in a positive way from surrounding cities?

We also need to make sure that we are creating an identity that will draw the next generation of residents so that Corning continues to grow. In essence, we need to plan and be smart about it.
