Dorris Carter, 92, of Hardy, Ark., died June 16, 2018, at her home. She was born Oct. 10, 1925, in Bernie, Mo., and lived her childhood years in Corning where she graduated from high school. She married Fred Carter on March 7, 1943. Dorris was a member of Hardy United Methodist Church for 71 years (WSCS, UMW, and choir). She was active with her children in church and the Hardy School system. Her professional work included bookkeeper for Berry Oil Company and newspaper office manager for Spring River Times. Her cheerful smile and honest work ethic affected thousands in Sharp County and beyond. She was preceded in death by her parents, William McKinley and Anna Farris (Alstadt) Smith; her husband, Fred, in 1998; her sister, Bobbye Louise Harmon; brother-in-law, Kenneth Harmon; son-inlaw, Bruce Bostian; and nephew, Harry “Mac” Harmon. Survivors include her children: Johnny & Kathy, Elaine, Allen & Alice; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nephew, Todd Harmon; and a multitude of other relatives and special friends.
