Elja McDonald

Elja McDonald, 86, of Corning passed away July 25, 2018 at Corning Therapy and Living Center. Mrs. McDonald was born August 8, 1931 in Hickoria. She worked for 10 years as a sales clerk in East St. Louis and 20 years at Basler Electric in Corning. She enjoyed gardening, church activities, sewing, quilting, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a member of Smith Chapel Church. On Dec. 11, 1948, she married Daniel S. McDonald. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2003. Survivors include her children Margaret Beaver of Cave City, Danny McDonald of Marmaduke, and Brenda Miller of Corning, sister Barbara Lunsford of Ash Flat, 4 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents Dan and Anna Lucille (Spicer) Woods, brother Julian Woods, and sister Glenda Rouse. Visitation was Monday from 12 noon to 2 P. M. at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Funeral service followed at 2 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Ernie Rinks officiating.
