Corning Mayor Greg Ahrent reminds residents that the city ordinance regarding fireworks prohibits the use of fireworks after 10 p.m. each evening through Friday, July 10, 2020. Fireworks should not be used at all after the July 10 deadline.
Linden Massey, owner of Harold’s Bar-B-Q in Corning knows what it’s like to be a truck driver trying to find a place to eat when weather or other conditions make it difficult. He had been an over the road truck driver for 44 years. He couldn’t standby and allow truckers passing through Corning to leave town hungry during the pandemic. He jumped into action and began handing out free meals to truck drivers traveling through Corning in front of his restaurant, Harold’s BBQ. Along the way residents in Corning and surrounding areas pitched in to supply snacks, buns and anything Massey needed to keep truckers fed.
COVID-19 is spreading across Clay County, says Office of Emergency Management Director Alan Vaughn. The latest reports from the Arkansas Department of Health on Tuesday, June 23 state that Clay County has 48 total cases and 35 active cases. There are 10 recoveries and an additional death in the county bringing the death total to 3.
