Top spellers advance
The Corning School District annual Spelling Bee was held Wednesday, November 16, at the high school auditorium. According to organizer and fifth grade teacher Christina Conway, the competition is open to students grades five through eight with the top three spellers advancing to the County Spelling Bee later in the year. An Alternate is also selected in the event one of the top three cannot perform.
The annual event is now held each November. Formerly, it was held in January.
