Sales and Tax Use collections fluctuate across county

According to the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, funds from the Sales and Tax Use Distribution for the month of May were sent to the county and the cities of Corning, Rector and Piggott last week. The local tax distributions are turned back to the Cities and Counties within 2 months of the date that they are reported to the DFA. Drew Smith, DFA Revenue Division Manager, said that the DFA does not quantify how well cities and counties perform as it pertains to their sales and use tax collections. “Each individual City and County would have certain measures for determining their current financial position based on bond repayments, on-going projects, etc.,” he explained.
