Resolutions passed for grant proposal Mayor reports on state of city in council meeting

The Corning City Council met for it’s regular monthly meeting on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 6 p.m. at City Hall with all parties of the municipal team present. Corning Mayor Greg Ahrent called the meeting to order. The council approved minutes from the previous meeting, Income and Expense Reports and purchase orders immediately when asked by the mayor. The only piece of old business was the discussion of the purchase of a Smart Vault scanner. Smart Vault is a web-based program that was built for accounting and businesses and will allow the city to have online document storage and secure file sharing. Mayor Ahrent stated, “We have on the Smart Vault, we have actually ordered the scanner. We should proceed with that as soon as it gets in.” City Clerk J’anna Couch said that the program is web-based and will not affect the city’s storage. Couch said that everyone can have a login, “The public I believe can have a login and y’all can have a login.” She told the council that only the managers can make any changes. Vannoy cited that the program would be good protection in case of fire and for protection against cyber security.
