GCT organizes ideas to reinvent Corning

Professor Mark Peterson from the University of Arkansas was the featured speaker at the Growing Corning Together meeting last Thursday night, January 31. Peterson, who specializes in a professor in Community and Economic Development, has assisted several communities through a program, Breakthrough Solutions. Breakthrough Solutions is an award-winning, next-generation strategic planning and development program of the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service that partners with public, private and non-profit sectors. He came to the meeting to help steer the group and Corning in the most effective direction.

George Lowe, Chairman of Growing Corning Together, opened up the meeting discussing the good work that everyone who participated in the cleanup day had achieved. Mayor Greg Ahrent reported that during the event, one dumpster was completely filled and the city truck was filled twice. Peterson commended the group on all that citizens achieved during the community cleanup day.
