Community shows up for lighting

The 21st annual Christmas in the Park event was a big success, according to organizers Glen Boyd and Stacy Jackson.

The weather was nearly perfect to ring in the Christmas season as many from the community gathered at Wynn Park where they mingled, listened to performers sing Christmas carols and songs and warmed themselves with coffee and hot chocolate.

Following about an hour of entertainment from the stage, the countdown began promptly at five minutes until 6 p.m., culminating with the entire crowd joining Boyd and Tracy Jackson for the final 10 seconds. When 6:00 arrived, the park lit up with Christmas lights to the sound of applause.
