CCAC Art Grant awarded
For the past two years the Clay County Arts Council has offered an Arts Inclusion Grant. Jane Gatewood, CCAC Secretary said, “Corning High School Art Teacher, Christina Swint has applied for the grant each year the program has existed. She has received a grant each year. This year, she requested dollars to continue the Craypen canvas project so that each student in both the fall and spring semesters could work with their own 9x12 canvases.” Swint was awarded this grant for 143 canvases in the fall and 43 canvases in the spring. The projects have been entered into the county art contests for the fair and have even been shown as works-in-progress on the Art Club’s Facebook page. The goal of the CCAC Arts Inclusion Grant is to provide grants for teachers in other subject areas in order to include the arts in the regular curriculum.
Gatewood explained, “Swint's proposal was the one with the most merit for long-term benefit and the Arts Council was pleased to present the award to her and Corning High School for use in her classes for this specific project.”
