1st Choice Healthcare on front lines of pandemic

Though the novel coronavirus has not peaked in Arkansas, the community health centers, such as 1st Choice Healthcare are straining to keep up with the demand for medical supplies, such as; masks, gloves, gowns, hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes.

CEO, Brigitte McDonald said the clinic received some supplies on Monday, but they are in dire need of many items, so much so that she said if residents were responsible and the demand doesn’t pick up, the clinic could probably make it 10 days with the current stock of supplies. McDonald explained, “We’ve got to have our personal protectors because when you do those swabs, whether it’s a flu test, strep test or the COVID test, you’re going up in the nasal and it causes them to sneeze or cough. So we’ve got to have our PPE on because if our people get sick and all go home then it does no one any good.”
