Corning Senior Wellness Center competes in bean bag baseball
The Corning Senior Wellness Center has formed a bean bag baseball team and is playing against area senior centers. Bean bag baseball games are beneficial in that physical activity helps guard against many chronic diseases and illnesses as seniors participate in friendly games of competition. The social aspect of the games is equally important.
The structure of the game is based on the same rules of baseball. According to the Arkansas Aging blog, “Two teams of nine teammates compete in tossing bean bags into a board with holes 17 feet away. The holes are marked with either out, foul ball, home run, or a base number. Each player gets three bean bags to throw at the board to try and get on base. The games usually last six or nine innings with the victorious team scoring the most runs in the end.”
